SNAP-8 Spray

SNAP-8 Spray is supplied as a pre-dissolved, sterile-filtered solution in amber glass bottles fitted with a metered atomizer, at 10 mg or 20 mg per unit. At eight residues it is one of the smallest peptides in our catalog and dissolves readily in aqueous buffer without an organic co-solvent. Headspace is nitrogen-purged before capping to protect the methionine residue, and no reconstitution step is required.

Store SNAP-8 Spray refrigerated at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F), upright and protected from light, where sealed units remain within specification for up to 24 months. Once the atomizer is first actuated, use the unit within 30 days. Short peptides like this one tolerate handling better than long chains, but freeze-thaw cycling still accelerates methionine oxidation and should be avoided. Brief transit excursions to 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F) are tolerated.

SNAP-8 is an acetylated octapeptide that mimics the N-terminal segment of SNAP-25, one of the three proteins that assemble into the SNARE complex driving vesicle fusion. By presenting a competing sequence, it is understood to occupy the position SNAP-25 would take, producing a SNARE complex that assembles less efficiently and slows vesicle docking and neurotransmitter release. It is a two-residue extension of the earlier hexapeptide Argireline, built on the same competitive logic. One caveat deserves stating plainly: no primary mechanistic study of SNAP-8 itself has been published. The mechanism is inferred from the Argireline literature and from SNARE structural biology, not demonstrated directly for this sequence.
